The Moon is meeting the Pleiades right about now, and it’s a lovely, old-fashioned sight ![]()
![]()
What’s happening
• The Moon is passing close to the Pleiades, also called the Seven Sisters.
• Depending on your exact location and the hour, you may see:
◦ The Moon just beside the cluster
◦ Or even briefly moving in front of some of the stars (an occultation)
How to see it best
• Look west to northwest after sunset
• Best viewing is early evening into mid-evening
• Naked eye works, but binoculars are a treat — the contrast between the glowing Moon and the delicate blue stars is something special
A little old-school wisdom ![]()
The Pleiades have been watched since biblical times — tied to:
• Seasons and harvests
• Navigation
• God’s order in the heavens“Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades…?” — Job 38:31
There’s something steady and reassuring about seeing the same sign in the sky that Abraham, David, and the prophets would have looked up at. Same God. Same heavens. Same faithfulness.
Look up and enjoy my friends! ~ Essie
