While the United States government is flying over our gardens and spraying the sky with ‘whatever’, people are getting sick from lettuce from Mexico. Why can’t we just grow our own with no ticks, etc? Doesn’t that make sense? Now we are experiencing explosive diarrehea that could last up to 2 weeks. AND it is allegedly from bag lettuce and leafy vegetables.

Cyclosporiasis (pronounced sigh-klo-spor-eye-uh-sis), which has been making headlines due to a massive, multi-state outbreak across the United States.ย ย
โWhile the illness itself isn’t entirely new, the current surge in cases has gained widespread national attention because it causes sudden, severe, and often “explosive” watery diarrhea that can last for weeks if untreated.
โHere is what you need to know about it:
โWhat Causes It?
โUnlike standard stomach bugs like norovirus or salmonella, cyclosporiasis is caused by a microscopic parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis.
โHow It Spreads
โContaminated Produce: The parasite is typically spread when fresh fruits or vegetables are grown or washed with water contaminated by human feces. Recent investigations have linked some cases to fresh produce, including contaminated shredded iceberg lettuce.
โNo Person-to-Person Spread: You generally cannot catch it directly from another person; it has to come from consuming the contaminated food or water.
โKey Symptoms
โSymptoms usually show up about a week after eating the contaminated food, though it can take anywhere from two days to two weeks. They include:
โFrequent, watery, and explosive diarrhea
โSevere bloating, stomach cramps, and gas
โLoss of appetite and weight loss
โExtreme fatigue
โNote: Unlike viral bugs, it rarely causes a high fever or heavy vomiting.
โTreatment
โBecause it’s a parasite and not a virus, it won’t just clear up in 48 hours. It can linger for weeks or seem to go away and then relapse. However, doctors can easily diagnose it with a specific stool PCR test and treat it effectively with a standard course of sulfa-based antibiotics (like Bactrim).
โIf you or someone you know is experiencing persistent, watery diarrhea that isn’t going away, it’s highly recommended to see a healthcare provider and ask specifically to be tested for Cyclospora.

Now I did hear some info about it that may be helpful. The video that I am sharing is from a man named Dr. Bobby Price who is pretty good with his info. This little information is my attempt to help those who may heed it.

Blessings!
