Old fashioned Homemade fudge

We always make our old fashioned black walnut fudge in a cast iron skillet.

1 stick of butter, 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 c evaporated milk. Stir & Melt together in cast iron skillet.

Bring to a hard boil and boil stirring constantly for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract & 1 cup of black walnuts. Stir until it loses its gloss, but I have found that you don’t have to do that. Just stir it every few minutes to allow it to cool & just start to thicken then pour into a buttered pan.

Once it is completely cooled cut it into pieces and put into a container. This fudge does not have to be refrigerated.
