Be immediate.

Good Morning, Good Afternoon and/or Good Evening wherever you are. This is Rev Essie of New Birth Ministries of Pittsburgh and I am glad that you are listening today. I pray that your day is blessed and if it doesn’t seem to be going that way…..Bless it yourself! God lives in you. He gave you His Power to use, so use it! Today the topic is “Be Immediate.” Get your Swords, a drink and a snack, and maybe a tablet and pen and sit back and I’ll be back to delve into this subject right after the invocation of God’s Spirit.

{PRAYER}
{SERMON} Taken from Mark Chapter 1:21 to Chapter 2

Jesus Heals a Man with an Unclean Spirit
Mar 1:21  And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
Mar 1:22  And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
Mar 1:23  And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
Mar 1:24  Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
Mar 1:25  And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
Mar 1:26  And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. (Sometimes there is a delay tactic. I’ll talk about that later.)
Mar 1:27  And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
Mar 1:28  And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
Jesus Heals Many
Mar 1:29  And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
Mar 1:30  But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
Mar 1:31  And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
Mar 1:32  And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
Mar 1:33  And all the city was gathered together at the door.
Mar 1:34  And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
Jesus Preaches in Galilee
Mar 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. (Sometimes we need private time. True disciples recognize and respect that.)
Mar 1:36  And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
Mar 1:37  And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
Mar 1:38  And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. (Preach in season and out of season.)
Mar 1:39  And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
Jesus Cleanses a Leper
Mar 1:40  And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mar 1:41  And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
Mar 1:42  And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
Mar 1:43  And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
Mar 1:44  And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Mar 1:45  But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
Jesus Heals a Paralytic
Mar 2:1  And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
Mar 2:2  And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
Mar 2:3  And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
Mar 2:4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
Mar 2:5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
Mar 2:6  But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Mar 2:7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Mar 2:8  And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Mar 2:9  Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
Mar 2:10  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
Mar 2:11  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
Mar 2:12  And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Brother Mark, in his account of the life of Jesus, gives us a real account of Jesus as a servant. He briefs you right along. He emphasizes Jesus’ strong deeds. Mark himself is a Christian symbol of the Oxen, the servant, the laborer. You can see him in Revelation 4:7 and Ezekiel 1:10. While reading the words of Mark, we see that in Chapter 1 verse 26, the demons were using a delay tactic by tearing the man’s flesh and crying out first. Christ reproves them and demonstrates His divinity and dominion. After all, the church is supposed to be a place of deliverance not just a place where people who need it sit for long periods of time without it. My question is: how long has this man, being full of demons, been visiting the synagogue and calling himself doing his weekly “Sabbath visit” in the condition that he was in with no help? It’s like the church today, how many people go to church on Sundays and come out feeling the same way that they felt when they went in? What is missing is the Holy Spirit. We invite Him with our lips but do we allow Him to take over our flesh, our hearts and rule the proceedings? The word warns us in Mat 15:8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Many claim today to be Christians but according to their hearts, have they really surrendered their hearts and minds to Jesus? Our hearts consist of mind, will and emotions. That means giving God your best. Giving him your thoughts, doing His will and allowing Him to handle your emotions without popping off to the first person who makes you upset. This is one of the reasons that God uses the word “heart” as being far from Him. He can read our minds. He knows our hearts. He knows to what degree we allow our flesh to interrupt natural incidences. He knows which digit our “help meter” rests on, and when we will ask Him to step in. Some people can do a lot and take a lot because they have a strong relationship with the Lord. Others are short-tempered and insist on doing things their way. They have yet to strengthen their patience and remain silent, allowing God to do what He does best, protect us.
Not only could the Pharisees NOT do anything with the man in their synagogues, they couldn’t do anything with Mary Magdalene. Jesus came along and saved her as well from demonic oppression and or depression. Nicodemus in all of his Pharisee splendor couldn’t do anything to help the young lady. Why? Because Jesus hadn’t introduced himself to the Scribes and Pharisees and all that they knew was the Law of Moses. They walked around in their pomp and circumstances with their beautiful robes and head coverings and the “greater than thou” attitude. We shouldn’t do that today folks. In fact, the very first miracle was at the wedding of Cana when Jesus’ mother asked Him to help when they ran out of wine. He told her that His time hadn’t come yet to begin doing miracles. Which in turn let’s us know that there had to be many spiritual short-circuits in those days that the Law of Moses couldn’t cover. This is why Jesus came to us. He knew that the Law of Moses was falling short and not giving the people POWER over the enemy, power over demons and the devil. Israel at that time made deals with the enemy as Matthew made deals with the Romans to be a Tax Collector but they couldn’t rule over the enemy. Being God’s people living under a mans law made them second best when in all actuality, they were to be first! And best! Jesus came and corrected that. Matthew left his compromised position to follow Jesus which, thank God, was a great decision. Matthew was a smart man with a spirit open to true power. He knew that there was just something about Jesus and the other disciples that he had never seen in the big, bad Roman Centurions. Matthew obviously felt lost and spiritually destitute in order to feel a tug on his heart when Jesus passed by. Jesus, woke him up. HalleluJah! Romans offered him money and a high position but it was not enough for his spirit. Just as it shouldn’t be enough for ours but people still sell out to have the nice houses, cars, the best foods and money don’t they? They’ll spend $100 on a meal and won’t give you a $20 to save their soul. I am so glad that the widow answered Elijah’s call. She fed him first and got blessed.

The demons in the synagogue attendee, used a distraction attempt with Jesus just as they will try to do with us. If you’ve ever bound, proclaimed, prophesied in Jesus name and it doesn’t seem as though it worked, by all means, do it again. (Mark 8) You can use the name and the Blood of Jesus as many times as you’d like! It’s a gift to us from Jesus Himself. If I bought you a new car, would you only go to the Store once with it and let it sit for years, letting it rust, and then complaining about how expensive the taxi’s are just to go shopping? I don’t think so.

You will sometimes experience an “immediate” moment and at times there could be a “strong man” spirit in a person or situation that refuses to leave and tries all that he/it can to stay in that person. Keep at it and don’t give up. Even Jesus touched the blind man’s eyes twice before healing came to him. I am sure in my heart of hearts that Jesus did that on purpose as an example for us. Jesus is just plain ol’ cool guys. He is the guy to hang out with. Amen. He was and is God, He could have given the blind man new eyes in an instant if He wanted to. He knew we’d have troubles so He gave this situation as an example. Is that cool or what? Awesome!

Verse 27 & 28 says that the people were all amazed at what Jesus had done saying, “What new doctrine is this? For with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits and they do obey him.” We have to remember that they had never seen such positive and power spiritual activity while obeying the Mosaic Law. This is why we have the term Messianic Jews and Orthodox Jews. Messianic Jews believe in just that, the Messiah. Orthodox Jews still, to this day go by the Mosaic Law given by God to Moses since the Exodus, which does not give them the Power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus gave to empower us with the omnipotence of God. The question is, would you rather have a less powerful antidote to your problems, the Law, or would you’d like a suddenly/immediate antidote? I choose the latter. Give me Jesus anytime. I’m more concerned about being a demon-buster than cleaning my house properly for Shabbat. To this day, they labor unnecessarily instead of giving it all to God. They still labor under the Law, which the bible calls the “Old Schoolmaster” instead of being free in the Messiah, Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:23  But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Gal 3:24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Gal 3:25  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Gal 3:26  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Let’s go to another example of “immediately.” While looking in the verse 28 we see that Jesus became famous, immediately. He could do something that their forefathers Moses and Abraham couldn’t do. They could naturally deliver the people but here comes Jesus, not only freeing the people physically and naturally, but spiritually and supernaturally delivering the people, setting people free. He came to make it easier for us and to fulfill the Law. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Mat 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

They were so used to quoting “in the name of our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” that they had forgotten how the Prophets of the Old Testament had prophesied about the arrival of the Lamb of God in which every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that, not Moses is Lord, but Jesus Christ is Lord. Every book in the Old Testament led to the Messiah. Every book in the entire bible leads to Jesus! He just came upon them surprisingly and quicker than they had expected. (Like the parables of the non-expectant servants who got caught procrastinating. (Caught with their pants down so to speak.) Just as He is going to do with us. We are going to be doing exactly what we are doing now when He comes, as the Bible says, “as in the days of Noah.” We will be working, getting married, eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. You can see that in Luke 17.

Luk 17:26  And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Luk 17:27  They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Luk 17:28  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Luk 17:29  But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Luk 17:30  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Luk 17:31  In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

Luk 17:32  Remember Lot’s wife.

Luk 17:33  Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Luk 17:34  I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

Luk 17:35  Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luk 17:36  Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luk 17:37  And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Jesus dined with them, danced the Horah with them, schooled with the children, went to Temple with them, traveled with them, played with the children until His Heavenly Father called Him to begin to preach salvation in the Temple, to His people.

We have to make sure that we are living holy as God tells us to in the Word. Not living any old kind of way hoping that we are living ok but, living how the Bible tells us to live. Not in this old nasty flesh but in the power of the Spirit of the Most High God. We are to do what Jesus did when He said twice:

Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Verse 31 of Mark, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick and Jesus took her by the hand and “lifted her” (which required action) and immediately she arose and her fever left and get this….she began to minister to whomever was around! Now did that take time? Did she have bed rest for a week? No! She instantly and immediately began to help others.

Folks, it is imperative that we believe that we can do that same as Jesus did and all of the apostles and disciples. People are saying more and more that healing and miracles was for them back in the day and not for us. It is definitely for us. That is the weakling’s way of getting out of accountability. They speak a word or a prayer over someone and peek out of their one eye to see if there is any physical change. Don’t peek out of your eye! Trust God! Let Him do the healing. You don’t have to be around to see the miracle. It could happen in their car on their way home or hours later in the shower. It’s God’s call. Sometimes you get an immediately and sometimes you don’t. Just ask God to start giving you the immediatelies amen? He knows if you need more faith or not. Let Him do the patching up that He does so well. You just plant the seed, believe with the person that you are praying for and according to their “belief” they will receive. Jesus couldn’t do many miracles in His own hometown because of what? Unbelief! They didn’t believe that He, the carpenter’s son, was who He claimed to be. I still have people today whispering about how I just took the title “Reverend” and put it in front of my name, although I am still “the same person” they claim. You will have those people who do not believe that God has changed you. They call one another and say, “Yea you can believe that mess if you want to but….I know Essie.” Even though most of the time they didn’t take out enough time to get to know you long enough at all. They just want the credit of knowing you period so that they can dog your name. Because they haven’t changed doesn’t mean that I haven’t. Amen? Look, I am not going to force anyone to believe. Either they do or don’t, it’s on them. But know this, God sends those who do believe in the ministry and we get along a-ok and that’s alright with me. Jesus didn’t beg anybody. In fact He would ask if they believed that He could heal them and said their faith had made them whole. Not His lifestyle, robe or sandals but their faith in Him. He could perceive whether or not they believed. You can see another example in Mark 6:

Mar 6:7  And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

Mar 6:8  And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

Mar 6:9  But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

Mar 6:10  And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

Mar 6:11  And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Mar 6:12  And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Mar 6:13  And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

In other words, if people didn’t believe, the disciples got ghost. They didn’t beg. They didn’t have to.

Mark chapter 2 ~ This is the example of those who brought the man sick of palsy to Jesus via the roof above Him. Jesus couldn’t help but commend them on their faith and said to the man “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” and of course there were scribes there who blamed him for blasphemies. Jesus was doing things that they had not seen …. at all! And couldn’t do under the Law of Moses. This was not like David Blaine coming to your hometown doing fake and crazy magic for entertainment! This was real. Jesus wasn’t shuffling decks of cards and making things disappear, He was healing the sick and raising people from the dead and palsy. Then the Word says, “Immediately” when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, He asked them what the problem was and spoke a few words to them. In verse 12 it says that the man immediately arose, took up his bed and left for all to see. Imagine being there. Imagine seeing that. Imagine seeing the men who couldn’t heal your family in any way, get emotionally Jap-slapped by someone Who they least expected to see perform better than them, and a Carpenter at that? Yea, ok. See, all of this was new to these people. This is one of the reasons that they blamed Jesus for operating under the power of the devil. To them it was impossible but we know that God’s Word says, “With God ALL things are possible.”

Mat 19:26  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mar 9:23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mar 10:27  And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Mar 14:36  And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. In other words, “Dad I know that you can do this for me but I have to go through with this according to your Divine Will. Jesus put the Father’s Will over His own even though He was/is part of the Round Table! He could have left us all and went back to His Throne. But! He obeyed the Father. How much more should we? We don’t have to go through what He did and we still complain.

The message to you today is, “Don’t be afraid to be an immediately-type of person.” You can never get enough of God. When God tells you to do something do it. Don’t wait until the devil has time to play with it. It’s good to have patience if you aren’t sure about something but if you keep your relationship in check with the Lord, you will know His voice amen? “My sheep know my voice.” Stay strong in the Lord and you can’t go wrong. Don’t second-guess. Don”t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. The church and body of Christ suffers from people who second guess their ministries, prayers, tithes and donations. God wants to use you to bless the church. You don’t have to collaborate with someone else as to whether or not you should give.

Mat 6:3  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

Mat 6:4  That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

When He speaks, just do it. As Mary said, “Do as He says.” John 2:5

Are you saved? Now is the time to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. With all that is going on around the world, you need a friend. Jesus can be that special friend if you allow Him into your life. He is your helper and His Holy Spirit is your Comforter.
If you are not saved, just repeat the Romans Road after me: Say “Jesus, I repent of my sins, I am so sorry Lord. I believe that you died on the cross and rose 3 days later from the dead, just for me and I accept what you have done, I accept you as my Savior. Thank you Jesus, amen.” Now go find a bible believing, Holy Ghost filled church and learn of Him, it’s never too late. Your new life starts now. All old things are gone away. God throws them as far as the East if from the West. Now….go live, laugh and love!

Num 6:24  The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
Num 6:25  The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
Num 6:26  The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Thank you for coming on today and I pray that your week goes by Victoriously!
Rev Essie signing off! God bless and have a great day!
