To give or not to give?

There is a scripture in the bible that people tend to use when they are describing what happens when you do not take care of what God calls, “The Least”. But there is something that some may have missed in quoting the following scripture:

Matthew 25:40

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

What they may have missed is the fact that not only does Jesus tell us that what we do (bad or good) unto the least, we have done also unto Him but please see the scripture that not so long afterwards, follows verse 40:

Matthew 25:45

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Jesus also says that whatever we have NOT done to the least we also have not done for Him as well. If you do not feed one who is hungry or finance the needy or poor, you haven’t shown love to the Jesus in them and He records it, after all He will be your Lawyer at the Great White Throne Judgement. (Rev 20:11)

When you see that someone needs something and you do not help them, you are guilty of adding to failure in their lives. Just like the Priest who passed up the man on the side of the road, you are doing the same. He didn’t want to get His clothes damaged or he wouldn’t be able to perform in the Temple therefore he didn’t want to take that chance. Who are you pleasing man or God? That man on the side of the road was the Priest’s test and the Priest failed it. Some people were placed into your life as a test. How are you treating them? With a long-handled spoon? The Priest probably felt pity for the man too but he offered no help, no encouragement. Therefore he was NOT helping Jesus. He was refusing to do good at the perfect chance to do so.

Don’t judge those in need, don’t worry about what they may do with the help that you give them, just help them. When someone gives help and wants to know what was done with that help, they are truly not giving because they are trying to control that help and we know that control is manipulation. Manipulation is rebelling against someone’s freedom. You cannot manipulate Jesus. Grace gives us freedom.

1 Samuel 15:23

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…

Whatever you do in life, do good, Jesus will reward you.
