What is a soul?

The soul is a God-ordained and created make up of mind, will and emotions. It is the part of you that was given by God as a ‘portion’ of Himself. He shared a part of Him while making man. Now don’t get it twisted, even a googleplex of humans wouldn’t make up the entire being of our God. He is everlasting, omniscient, omnipotent, omni-present (the quality of being everywhere), the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. In fact He created googleplexes of angels to serve Him. Be careful to not put Him in a box.

You have free will, a mind, (which is actually your heart) and emotions. We are a triune being just as God is. Body, Soul and Spirit. The Soul is YOU. The body is what holds you together and keeps you within the confines of humanity. There was a time that man used 100% of his brain and could attend all 3 Heavens but due to the fall, we no longer are able to do so. Even Adam could no longer see the Angel who guarded the Garden after his fall. Sin limited him. Sin limits us. This is why we need Jesus to be free of limitations. (Someone somewhere will get that. Praise God.) Enoch walked with God because he used his entire brain and communicated with the Spiritual and visited the Heavenlies whenever he wanted to.

Gen 5:21  And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

Gen 5:22  And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

Gen 5:23  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

Gen 5:24  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

The Spirit is your teacher and guide that teaches you all things. God’s Law, how to be, what to think in order to be successful and satisfied in this life, how to speak and be respected and heard. OR you can be disrespected and unheard depending on what “spirit” that you attend to. The battle between good and evil does exist due to mans fall.

Your soul (neshama) is in your blood because when God made Adam, he had blood, body and all. It was only when God ‘breathed’ into Adam (the neshema/breath) did he become a “living” soul.

Gen 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Before the Spirit was introduced into his body, Adam was a non-living, inanimate being. It’s like taking an inanimate picture of a bowl of fruit and blowing life upon it, watching the fruit come to life in the bowl, shining, tangible and ready to eat.

Got soul?
