Don’t worry! Be happy! (Happy Sukkot!!!!)

Praise the Lord!

I pray that this message will uplift and encourage you into Joy, Happiness, and an abundance of Victory in every area of your life.

Don’t you just hate depression? Depression is a horrible experience. There are people who go through things in life that are too horrific to type or talk about. But there is something that I thought of that is quite opposite the norm. Could it be possible that some of us go through depression because of ourselves? Please hear me out before you stop reading? (Thank you.) Could it be that we didn’t get our way? Money problems, bills, relational problems, kids, family, job, boss, neighbors, weight, hair, face, skin, body, vehicle, house, trying to keep up with the Joneses, etc. What most fail to realize is that the Joneses may have the finances to have that swimming pool, Cadillac and manicured lawn.

Matthew 6:25-34

25  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27  Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

There are some who go so deep into a pity pool that they forgot how to swim.  I call it the “Why me?” syndrome. That’s something to ponder. Before you get upset, notice that I did not say “all of us.” I purposely try to never say “all” in any situation and I certainly am not trying to make light of a very deep situation and/or experience.  Some have lost loved ones due to depression, I did. I believe that we’ve all been through it in some type of way.
Why I feel the way that I feel:
Today is the Holiday of the Feast of Tabernacles in Israel, “Sukkot”. They build shacks outside in memory of when they were led through the wilderness for 40 years by God. The shacks can be decorated anyway that you want them as long as the roof is made of materials that are not associated with the cursed Earth. Most use Myrtle or Palm Leaves, etc. They live in those shacks for a certain amount of time and eat there as well. The Holiday is supposed to be a “joyful” one. They dance and sing with one another.
Here’s a nice video that sort of explains it. I am not too sure about the Kaballah part, I have some questions about it but the video is pretty nice.

The thought hit me: with all that Israel is going through right now, how can they possibly be happy? Other countries are plotting against them. Another country right now is sending missiles into their country and has been for a while. They went through being slaves. Then I thought “well other races did too right?” Yes but it seems that other races (in my opinion) did not completely recover the way that Jews did.  Others seem to have gone into a deep depression and cannot change their hearts and be glad for how far God has brought them. Many have become mean and bitter, ignoring their duties and responsibilites, finding odd ways to get around them all, when all the while some flash a silly smile only pretending to be joyful.  There are not many visitations, parties, togetherness or real love sometimes. There is only depression, sadness, crabbiness and back-biting. We all should be glad that God brought us through and stop complaining right? It’s hard to fight that flesh. We can only successfully do it in the Spirit. Many are refusing to be spiritual therefore they are missing the mark.

John 4:24

24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The Jews still didn’t completely lose their Joy. Hitler exterminated thousands, some say millions, of them. The Holocaust was directed straight from Hell towards those people and they went through more than what you think. Yet, they are still happy! And…..celebrating nonetheless!
If Jewish people can still celebrate with gladness after all that they have been through for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ being born into their country and people, why can’t we get over our situations as well? Have you ever had your skin used to make lamps for a whole government military and some of it’s people? I don’t think so. Have you ever had your family placed in ditches, nude, only to be shot by rifles and piled up on top of one another? I doubt if there are many who can say ‘yes’. Or led nude to gas chambers only to be killed and buried.

Acts 8:32

32  The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

While we are crying over unpaid bills and family members who won’t talk to us, or what man or woman won’t give us the time that we would like, please remember what others have gone through. Don’t allow your current situations to set a permanent mood for you. Don’t worry be happy! (Bobby McFerrin.) God’s got your back. Either you believe it or don’t. As the old song says, “Ain’t no half-steppin’”.

Why do the Jews still party and smile? They know what the Biggest God can do. They’ve experienced it first hand. The question is……
…………..have you?
