The Power of Jesus’ Blood
New Birth Bible lnstitute
There are two awesome tools that God has given us to keep ourselves sane and free from the effects of the oppression that is constantly attempting to ruin our lives. The Name and the Blood of Jesus. Jesus gave us the power to tread on serpents just by using His name and/or Blood. There is a case in the bible where Jesus’ disciples began to realize the power over devils that had been given them through Jesus in Luke 10. They were extremely joyous and came back to the Master to report those miracles that they had witnessed.Luke 10:17-20
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Notice that Jesus did give them inside information about how satan was struck and rejected by the Lord in Heaven. But He did also tell them not to make their success a bigger deal than having their names written in the the Lambs Book of Life. Jesus did not want them to focus on what they could do but rather, that which they had done by accepting Him. The Power to tread on serpents automatically comes with the acceptance of the Son.In Hebrews 9:22 we see that the Blood is needed for the remission of sin.Hebrews 9:20-22
20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
remission |riˈmiSHən|nounthe cancellation of a debt, charge, or penalty: the plan allows for the partial remission of tuition fees.
Simply put, if Jesus did not shed His Blood for us, we would still have to live by the Law with Godknowing that we would not be able to keep the Law. Our living would be redundant and it would make Him look like a mean God.
In Genesis, Adam and Eve sinned against God. This was the first sin committed by humans in which a poor animal had to give his life that man’s nakedness should be covered. God Himself created the first act of animal sacrifice. And all of this was over man’s disobedience of which some are still proud oftoday. Shaking your fist at the Lord will gain you nothing. Obedience is greater than sacrifice. God wants us to obey. Adam and Woman/Eve messed that up from day 1, well… after day 7 anyway.
When they sinned in the Garden, they lost their authority that God had given them. God chastises those that He loves.Hebrews 12:6-9
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Adam and Eve were stripped of their authority. They were ashamed of their action. The word “buwsh”to pale, to be ashamed, disappointed, or delayed. Brought to disgrace, dull, no light. In the beginningthey would have had to have light for God Himself is light. Genesis 3:8, they had fellowship with God.They sinned in verse 6 “and the eyes of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked”.There was something that covered them before hand. Where did it go? What was it? Light. This is areason that we are not to take God and our relationship with Him lightly. (Pardon the pun.) The lightthat they had was the Glory of God, their covering. It left them. The light that you have now is theGlory of God that shows up sin. If you watch a person who is deep into what they think is a ‘secret sin’their face will seem to darken each time that you see them. Their countenance will change. In themovie “David” with Nathaniel Parker and Leonard Nimoy who is known for playing Dr. Spock fromStar Trek, the man who plays David son Amnon falls in love with his sister Tamar. In each shot of him,the directors were careful to make his face to darken to an almost grayish-green tint. Amnon’s lust forhis sister began to show on his countenance. Then the rape happened and he was thrown out of themain parts of the camp. There are many people today who think that their sins and secret lusts do notshow. One with the discernment of God can see it in the spirit or hear it in the spirit that something isamiss with these persons. All that you can do is pray for them. Do not damn them because all havesinned and come short of the glory of God. They may have seen something on you at one point as well.None is greater than Jesus, no not one. Only pride will say, “Surely not me!”Man now needs a covering to be in the presence of God. Sin robs you of your faith and robs you ofyour authority that God has given you. With each unrepentant sin our authority becomes weaker andweaker. A pastor with lust will become less and less respected in the church. As the head sickens thebody will follow, thus a weak church. Adam and Eve attempted to cover themselves with what is said tobe fig leaves. This is man’s attempt to cover his nakedness. We still try to do it today. Religion is aninsufficient covering. They knew this or they wouldn’t have hid. The presence of God shows up in sin.Only God’s covering is sufficient. Genesis 3:21, “and the Lord God covered them” No works of manwill do here. It was the first killing in the Garden. God made coats for them, “kuttoneth” to cover,garment, robe. To make the covering there had to be a shedding of blood. (Hebrews 9:22 once again.)The coats of skin was put on right away after the death of the animal so it was the blood that had to beapplied. It was the blood that was placed against man’s nakedness.Jesus shed His Blood for ALL. John 3:16, not an elite few. The blood had to be applied. 1 John 2:1-2,Romans 5:17-19. Each one must accept the blood sacrifice of Jesus. The Atonement. “Kaphar” to coverover. Atone. Atonement…at-one-ment. At one with God. Propitiate, pacify, a covering over. Leviticus17:11 “for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.” The Blood of Jesus is the ONLYcovering for sin.At the age of recognition, each child him or herself should have the opportunity presentedto them to accept Jesus Christ. God-Mothers and God-Fathers won’t do. No one can stand in yourplace and accept Jesus for you. There are going to be many people who are going to find out when it istoo late that they are not truly saved and never really was saved. I cannot accept Jesus for you and youcannot accept Jesus for me.There needed one to be sacrificed. There was the innocent being sacrificed for the guilty. (Jesus for youand me.) One had to lay down his life. He 4:15, Romans 5:6, 18-19, Matt 20:28, John 10:17, 18. Godprovided the sacrifice to be slain. It was God, not Adam that provided the animal, probably a lamb, forthe sacrifice. Genesis 22:1-14. Abraham was going to sacrifice his own son as God had told him. Verses4-5 Abraham sees the place of sacrifice and his faith arises to believe God for the return of his son.Heb 11:17-19. At the show of Abraham’s obedience, because of his faith, God provided a substitutesacrifice…a ram in the bush. God has a ram in the bush for you as well. Fret not when needs arise.Verse 14 “….called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh…” that is “God shall supply.” The penalty ofsin was laid upon the sacrifice. 2 Cor 5:21, Galatians 3:13, Is 53:6, 10-12, 1 Peter 2:24. Jesus bore thepenalty of our sin as the blood sacrifice for man.Short summary: Sin-exposed and removed the covering. Man’s efforts or coverings are insufficient.The Power of Jesus’ Blood Part 2Blood defined: Hebrew “Dam” – blood (as that when shed causes death) of a man or animal, the juiceof grapes. Blood shed and drops of blood. Greek “Haima” Blood of men and animals, fig, the juice ofgrapes, bloodshed. Webster – outside of the biological definition, the principle of life, one’s vitality,lifeblood. Blood is that substance that carries life to all parts of the body. Leviticus 17:11 “For the life ofthe flesh is in the blood. Your spirit is the Breath of God. Your soul is in your blood. That explainswhy a dying man takes his ‘last breath’…God is taking His breath “spirit” back and you become a ‘deadsoul’ per se. The soul goes to the grave until Judgment. Your blood runs into the ground one way oranother.Your soul is made up of mind, will and emotions. This is one reason why satan wants oursouls. he really thinks that we will end up serving him at some point. What will happen is that thosewho purport to serve satan will burn in eternity with him. Life was in the blood only when Godbreathed His breath into Adam and man became a ‘living’ soul. Life now flowed in man’s veins. Theword “life” is the Hebrew “naphesh” which is translated “soul.” Flesh is “basor” flesh, body, person,fleshed, kin, mankind, self, nakedness, skin. We can therefore read “for the soul of the person ormankind is in the blood.” Is. 63:3-6 strength – “netsach” idea of brilliancy of color, juice of the grape, asblood red, blood, strength. The Interlinear bible states “…and I will pour to the Earth their juice,”Amplified….”and I spilled their lifeblood upon the Earth.” Note; within the blood is not only the soul orlife but also the strength of a person. This was written long before man discovered the use of blood ascarrying necessary oxygen and nutrition to the cells of the body. Ezra 18:4, 20-24, 4:14, Micah 6:7, “thesin of my soul” there is a penalty to sin-death. Romans 5:12, 6:23, Genesis 2:17, 3:19, 1 Chron 10:13,Prov 11:19.The soul is the place of emotions, intelligence, the mind and the will. This is where onechooses. When we sin, we’ve made the choice to disobey God. A willing rebellion. Adam: NOTE: Yourbody does not sin, your soul sins! Jesus is our substitute offering. Lev 17:11 (Altar-atonement). Death bythe shedding of blood is the only entrance into covenant. He 9:14-22 A covenant does not go into effectuntil there is a death, then enforced. Jesus Blood was a better offering. Heb 12:24 John 1:29. TheLamb must be perfect with no blemishes. Ex 12:5, Lev 22:20, 23:12, 1 Pet 1:19, Heb 4:15, yet withoutsin 2 Cor 5:21, Heb 7:26. A Lamb for a sin offering. Gen 4:4, Gen 22:7-8, Lev 4:32, Jo 1:29, 1 Jo 2:2.The Lamb was to be slain. Gen 12:5,6, Ex 12:5,6 Jesus, the Lamb. REb 5:11-12, Is. 53:7. A Lamb forthe World. A Lamb for man Gen 4:4, Gen 22:13, A Lamb for a house Ex 12:3, A Lamb for a NationLev 16:29-34, 23:26-32, Heb 9:7, 25. A Lamb for the World. John 1:29, 1 Jo 2:2.The precious Blood of Jesus is valuable. 2 Sam 24:24, 1 Pet 1:18-19. Many animal sacrifices in the bibleshow that all the animals in the world could not be as valuable as the Blood of Jesus. Ex 12:3-4.Short summary: Jesus’ Blood was not from the union of a man and a woman but His Blood was special.It was highly esteemed and honored by God to atone for the sins of man. It is not corruptible. HisBlood was totally different or a different type than anyone else.The Power of Jesus’ Blood Part 3The Blood is the only covering. Cain and Abel came to bring an offering. Genesis 4:1-7. Obviously they were taught well by their parents. Verse 3 “…and in the process of time it came to pass”…..We don’t know how long the time was but we do know that they were adults and not children. The 1stoffering, they did on their own. They had obviously reached the age of accountability and realized thatthey were sinners. Rom 3:10, 12, 13. They needed a covering. How did they know to bring an offeringto God? Heb 11:4 “by faith Abel”. How does faith come? Romans 10:17. Adam and /or Eveninstructed them in God’s Word as they received it themselves. In the Garden Eve knew what God hadsaid. Gen 3:2 only because Adam had told her. Abel and Cain knew what was needed to be covered oraccepted. These offerings were not a by-chance offering, hoping God would accept it, but a fullknowing of what was expected.Rejection and acceptance.Why was Abel’s offering accepted? Genesis 4:4 He brought the firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof.Abel offered God his best. His offering was the giving of a life that was not his own works. Abel was akeeper of sheep Gen 4:2.Cain’s wasn’t accepted because he offered God something from the cursed Earth. If you cursed theEarth, would you want anything from it? Genesis 4:3 It was not the blood. God used the blood andrequires for us to do the same. Cain’s offering was the fruit of a cursed thing. Cain was a tiller of theground. GEn 4:2. Cain was a slave or servant to the ground. Gen 3:17. Gen 3:19 ground also refers tothe flesh. Man was made from the dust of the Earth. In offering God something that was cursed, it wasmockery and rebellion towards God. All he had to do was ask if he wasn’t sure. It was the fruit of works.There is no justification by works. Rom 3:20, 9:32, 11:6. Eph 2: 8-9, Titus 3:4-5Summary: Give God your best…..always.The Power of Jesus’ Blood Part 4Jesus’ Blood was equal to the task. The blood of animals could not redeem. Is 53:10 It please the Lordto offer Jesus for sacrifice. Jesus bore in the flesh the punishment of sin 1 Pet 2:24. Hebrews 9:6-7 thepriest had to continually offer up. Heb 9:11-12, 23-38. Jesus’ offering was a One-Time Offering. Itneed not be repeated. Rev 3:21 Jesus is sitting down, the work is done. It is finished.Zech 13:1 There is a continual flow. Heb 9:8-14 New Testament as compared to old. Jesus made ourburdens light. No more bull sacrifices, etc. If you know of anyone who is attending animal/humansacrifices in the woods somewhere, it’s demonic and mockery against God. Please leave and pray fortheir souls. The Blood purges us to make us clean. Cleans our conscience. It makes us to understandand to be aware. Jesus and the Holy Sprit make a great tag team. They give us that thought processwhich distinguishes what it considers morally good or bad, commending the good and condemning thebad, and so promoting to do the former, and avoid the latter. The unsaved conscience is defiled. Theykeep thinking that they can do something over and over without consequence. The bible calls themrepeat offenders and heretics. If someone is doing something to you without relief, it is not of God.Repeat offenders are defiled. The devil has their soul……mind…..will and….emotions. Only throughthe Blood of Jesus are we free from condemnation and guilt that comes from a defiled and spottedconscience.Change. The Blood of Jesus will produce a change in a person. 2 Cor 5:17 “If any man be in Christ heis a new creature.” If there is no change, it is not of Jesus. Eze 11:19 There will be a freshness. A feelingof the will and intelligence. There will be understanding and wisdom. God can now write His Word intheir hearts. By the Blood we can enter into God’s presence. The Holy of Holies. The reason that theenemy wants you to believe in aliens is so that you won’t rebuke those demons in Jesus’ name. They’redemons, not aliens. People who have called on Jesus name while being “abducted” immediately wokeup with no problems, probes, or cuttings. Call on His name! You are allowed to use it a million times aday!Hebrews 4:14-16 Jesus is the Great High Priest so go boldly to the Throne. Heb 10:19-27Hebrews 10:19-27
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Short summary: With Jesus we will not provoke one another to anger but to love and good works. If someone is constantly provoking you, drop them like a hot potato and pray for them.The Power of Jesus’ Blood Part 5 (end)By the Blood of Jesus we an enter into God’s presence, the Holy of Holies. Hebrews 9:22-24, 10:19-23 and 4:14-16Aspects of the Power of the Blood:We are Redeemed by the Blood. Eph 1:7, Col 1:14, Rev 5:9 Redeemed = “exaggerazo” to buy out,purchasing a slave with a view of freedom. “Lutroo” to release on receipt of ransom, paying a price for.1 Tim 2:5-6 Matt 20:28, 1 Cor 6:20 Redemption is eternal. HEb 9:12. It is not by money or vainconversation or traditions. When accepting Jesus into your heart, you are redeemed from the power ofsin and it’s bondage into freedom and holiness. Rom 6:6-7, 14, 17-23. 1 John 3:9-10We are Forgiven by the Blood of Jesus. Eph 1:7 Col 1:14 Conviction, sin is revealed.Condemnation-punishment. satan would condemn you and drive you away from God. God forgives &forgets our sins because of the Blood of Jesus. He honors the work of the Cross. In honoring the Bloodof Jesus, the Father is honoring the Son. Before we came to Christ we were just Humans. The shade ofa man. Hu-man. Hue. Shade. Deptness of color. After the fall, we were only a shadow of what we werebefore. You are not a man until you get saved. Forgiveness – “Aphiemi” Greek. Send away or sendforth. Sin is gone. As far as the the East is from the West. Is 38:17 God throws it behind His back andremembers it no more. As God forgets and forgives, the believer needs to forgive himself. Don’t hold agrudge against yourself. Let go and let God. Some people are still blaming themselves for somethingthat they had no control over. Bitterness festers like an old sore. Clean your heart with Jesus and befree.By the Blood we are Cleansed. 1 John 1:7 Rev 1:5, 7:14 We become pure and cease to do evil. HEb9:14, 2 Tim 2:21.By the Blood we are Justified. Romans 5:9. Because we are cleansed. Lev 14:1-7 the leper is cleansedand restored to the fold. “Tsadag” to be made right. You are made innocent by the Blood of Jesus.Acquitted from all guilt. Just as if you never sinned. satan accuses you to YOU! Job 1:6, 2:1, Rev 12;10“diabolos” accuser, a slanderer. From this word we get Diabolical, Diabetes.The Blood Sanctifies. The Blood is our defense. You now have Peace. Word….Read the Word! AsJesus’ hands were fastened, our hands should be fasted to do His work only. Our walk is to besanctified. As Jesus ‘ feet were nailed to the cross and His Blood spilled, it sanctifies and cleanses ourwalk. There was His Blood spilled in three places….The Garden (freeing of the mind,) The WhippingPost (By His stripes we were healed), and at Calvary (He was bruised for our iniquities.)Short summary: Make is a Holy habit to call on the name of Jesus and plea the Blood in any situation.Some make fun of the practice of plea-ing of the Blood but Jesus said that it is okay to do. He didn’tturn down the disciples, He just showed them that it is more important to celebrate having their namesin Heaven than to celebrate how demons flee from them when they mentioned His name. It was Hisway of stopping them from making a ‘show’ of it. He shed His Blood for your use. Remember that. Useit.Rev Esther R. ScottTO RECEIVE DAILY SERMONETTES OR JOIN FOR FREE LESSONS:
