Spiritual Sickness….excuses, excuses…..

Spiritual Sickness

by Rev. Esther R. Scott

In a world full of excuses as to why we didn’t get things done or cannot at the moment, what people need to understand is that they are not as sick in their bodies as they are spiritually. The bible says, “In Him we live and move and have our being.” We are to be strong and mighty in Jesus and have full Joy that He intends for us to have. We are so concerned about the cares of this world that we put Jesus on a back burner and come up with every excuse that we can to keep from serving Him wholeheartedly. What these people need is a death to their flesh and a revival of their spirit. They need to remember their first love. I’ve seen people with titles in front of their names that I wouldn’t send my dog to if he had problems. The greater the title, the more sickly and weak they are. Their faith in God is next to nothing.

1 Peter 4:17

17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

If judgment begins at the house of God, there are going to be a lot of Christians who won’t make it. God wants strong believers not doubters.

There are different types of Spirits in the bible. If you know anyone who has any of the following symptoms/spirits, pray for them.

The different types of spirits that we see in the bible are:

1. Mk 9:25 Foul Spirits

2. Mt 10:1 Unclean

3. 2 Tim 1:7 Fear

4. 1 Tim 4:1 Seducing

5. Lk 13:11 Infirmity

6. Act 16:16 Divination (Where we get the word Python from. Witchcraft as well. Tarot, horoscopes, etc.)

7. Ro. 8:15 Bondage

8. Ro 11:8 Slumber (too much sleeping)

9. 1 Cor 2:12 World

10. 1 Jo 4:3 Anti-Christ

People who are possessed with these spirits show unusual signs. Eye-twitching, outrageous mood swings, uneasiness, excessive talking or laughing, dead stares as though they were looking through your soul, double mindedness to the point of affecting others around them, spiritual manipulation, confusion, unexplained absences. This is where we get the name ‘demon’. The word mean to divide and conquer.

In Luke 13:11 we see the woman who had what the Word calls, “a spirit of infirmity” for eighteen years. There are some who are constantly sick and cannot seem to get over it. That, typically is the very same spirit. There is usually not enough fasting and praying to rid this evil spirit and sometimes people are so infatuated with ‘bragging’ about the sickness, they can’t even discern that the evil spirit is about them. Some use it as a conversation piece. The person is so used to the indwelling of the evil spirit that they don’t even realize that others have become detached from their explanations of sickness.

In Mark 5 we see the man who had Legions of spirits within him and he lived in tombs. Legions when looked up means that he had approximately 4,800-6,000 spirits in him. Tombs are places of deadness where one’s heart is heavy. They experience unusual sickness and mental disturbances. The man used stones to cut himself. Today they call it “cutting” where teens, etc cut their skin as a way of releasing pain in their lives. The man was trying to release all of the pain in his life with physical abuse. Possessed people lay awake at night and some for days, and are unable to sleep. They are experiencing torment day and night. The bible says that God gives His beloved sleep.

Those inflicted with these spirits run from those who care the most about them. They won’t run toward Godly people. They set people at odds with one another. They have many emotional holds and spiritual leprosy, trying to disturb others and scare others from their normal way of living/walking. You will also notice that they can become extremely violent out of the blue, sometimes to the point of being dangerous. Dwelling on past memories becomes their ‘here and now’. Inside they could be experiencing rebellion from broken relationships and upon first knowing them one will begin to notice that their relationships really don’t last too long before something odd and unusual comes up. They are in constant pain of some kind and when they say that they’ve had a good day, it’s usually in a mocking manner that they say it. (Just to please the listener.) These tormenting spirits cause people to abuse alcohol, medication and drugs to kill the pain. They cannot tell that people realize their addictions because they are so deep into their own heartache. The spirits cause them to continue to operate as though it is a personal secret. They stay in the same rut year after year. When you talk to them, they haven’t accomplished anything. Most are possessed. Their possessors won’t allow them to have Joy yet they cannot see in the spiritual realm to know it.

Possession gives these spirits/demons hands, feet and a voice. It gives them a body to ‘operate’ in.

If you know someone or, if you suspect that you are having this problem, call on Jesus and keep your ears open to the answers that He will give you. Continue to pray for these people. Tell them to go to a bible believing church/house/gathering place and keep plugged into Jesus at all times. Call on His name. Tell them to cover themselves with His blood. And most of all, they shouldn’t resist the ministers that God places in their lives. These spirits like to “challenge authority.” Don’t be one of them. They must stop challenging the authoritative figures in life and enter into a redemptive covenant with Jesus Christ who will set them free from slavery. And remember to ask, pray, study, listen….

….the anointing destroys the yoke.

God bless,
