Heavenly Memo: Jesus shows that buildings are not important.

Preachers today are still pushing new buildings. Everyone wants a huge church with a tall platform with hundreds of seats surrounding the pulpit. I can tell you with Godly assurance that it is not the Will of God to do so. I have proof.

Matthew 24:1-2

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

If Jesus told His own followers that the building is not important and that buildings are not everlasting, how much more should we refrain from worshipping buildings today? As they were talking to Jesus, their Jewish pride was showing through.

James 4:6

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

God resists the proud and Jesus certainly resisted His disciples pride in this instance. What we should be concerned about is the salvation of souls, not mortar, brick and stone. Those who worship idols and statues will soon be resisted in a harsh way if they do not stop. God said that He will have no other gods before Him. How much more do we need to understand?
