Today’s Hebrew Lesson
In this verse, God is referred to as “The Merciful One” or מְרַחֲמָם / me-ra-kha-maym in Hebrew. The Hebrew word for mercy, רחם / ra-KHAYM also means a ‘womb’ because of a mother’s natural mercy for her offspring. Isaiah is teaching us that God will provide for us and show mercy just like a mother has great compassion for her child.
