“FEAR”

2 Timothy 1:7

{For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.}

I. Note that the scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7 calls fear a ‘spirit’. We are surrounded by evil spirits every day that try to make us turn our backs on God.

A. God wants you to be strong and of good courage, fearlessness. Numbers 13:20, Deuteronomy 31:6, 7 and 23. Joshua 1:6, 9, 18 and 10:25, 2 Samuel 10:12, 1 Chronicles 19:13, 22:13, 28:20, Ezra 10:4, Psalms 27:14 and 31:24, Isaiah 41:6.

B.God wants us to have Spiritual Power. Say and use the name of Jesus and cover your situations with the precious blood that He shed for you and me. (Pray, bind, rebuke, chasten.)

C. God wants us to have Spiritual Sanity. 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…..

1. Manmade religions sometimes exalt themselves above God and cause fear.

2. Legalism, ceremonialism and ritualism causes the sin of omittance because we are so busy pleasing man sometimes that we neglect our Godly duties.

II. Fear is the absence of Faith.

A. Either you believe God and His Word or you don’t. There is no middle ground.

B. Hebrews 11: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
