It’s nice to rekindle relationships

Last night, I happened to hold a Facebook conversation with an old friend who played with me when I sang for Talent Treasure Hunt ’88. And let me add that I won the contest that was also televised. It was fun. I was very nervous but I had a ball. Singing is just something that I was meant to do and I love it. I haven’t done it in quite a while but I plan on getting back very soon.

My friends’ name is Tony Janflone, Jr. He is one of the best guitarists I know besides Carlos SantanaEddie Van HalenB.B. King or Stevie Ray Vaughn. He’s played with some bigwigs as well. It was so awesome to see this professional tell me to get back in the game  and he complimented my voice. How many people would take out the time to do that? I swear that I slept better last night with his words in my heart. His encouragement came just in time.

You know sometimes, we have to reach down and lift somebody up. He didn’t have to say those nice things to me but he took out the time to lift my spirit. God is good. He sends people at the correct and proper times to make you smile. I will keep my friend in prayer. He was in a car accident in ’97 and had to sell his guitars, etc to pay for medical bills. You can see this on http://www.tonyjanflonejr.com

I pray that Tony gets totally back in the groove of things and that he becomes more loved and popular than any of the greatest. He deserves it. Just like King David, Tony can play a mean guitar! Love ya Tony.

Here is a link to our work “Over the Rainbow” on You Tube. And yes, I did have more hair and a thinner face back then… lol.  The announcer is my friend Bobby Shawn that I’ve been singing with for over 30 years. Bobby has rubbed elbows with Perry Como, Bobby Vinton, etc. They all grew up together. He’s another uplifter in my life. Love him and Sandy (his wife.) At the end of the following video, you will see a lady holding my daughter Alexi when she was a baby. (You’ll notice the Essie lips on her. Can’t miss those rosy lips.) That’s ma babaaaa!
