February 24th was a great day for Zechariah. Starting from chapter 1, verse 7, one can see that the Lord was talking to him about turning unto Him and He (God will turn unto him in return.) All throughout the bible we see how Israel turned their backs on God and He had to remind them to return to Him. This reminds me of how weak we humans can be at times. Like a little child, when we see something shiny in our paths, we turn towards the shiny thing and forget what it was that we were supposed to be doing in the first place.
I wonder how many February 24ths God has given us that we neglected to realize? We are so busy going about our daily tasks and taking care of numero uno that we fail sometimes to hear the very voice of our Savior speaking directions and love to us.
Zechariah asks what it was that he was being shown in this vision. See God comes to us in dreams and visions as well. Pay more attention to detail from now on. God could be speaking to you. He begins to show him the man riding on a red horse who stood among the myrtle trees. I suppose that he stood among them as he was saddled upon the horse. Riding and standing are probably used as the same form here. Behind him were red speckled horses and white ones. The angel goes on to tell Zechariah that those are the ones who walk to and fro through the earth. And who walks to and fro throughout the earth but the eyes of the Lord. See Chapter 4:10. They said that all of the earth is still and at rest.(1:11)
Verse 13 says that the Lord answered the angel who talked to Zechariah with good and comfortable words. One should presume here that God is not as mean as the orthodox thinkers try to make Him seem. God is a good God and doesn’t intend on scaring the pants off of anyone. His Grace is sufficient…..
God goes on to tell the angel that He is jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a “great” jealousy. Sooo, this means that God can actually be jealous and still speak good and comfortable words. How many men do we know today who are jealous but still speak good and comfortable words? Many today end up in the news from doing some unmentionable act to their girlfriends and wives and vice versa in regards to gender. God does things that mans simple mind just cannot comprehend at times. He’ll explain it all to us in due time. Some things are not meant to know.
God goes on to tell him that His house shall be built in Jerusalem and prosperity shall yet be spread abroad and He will comfort Zion and yet choose Jerusalem. And He tells us today the very same thing. Fret not. God has you covered in every situation. When Jesus says “Cast your cares” He means that very same thing. If your own heart convicts you for giving your problems to the Lord, it’s your own fault. Pick them up and take them back all that you want but know this that Jesus handles them a lot better than you ever will. (Zech 4:6b Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, said the Lord of hosts.”) I believe that the Book of Zechariah is speaking to us today, right now, at this time. Please take out time to read it to see if God gives you any revelations.
I find Chapter 2:7 very intriguing. (Note 1:7 and 2:7 There’s meaning in numbers.) It says:
Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. What intrigues me is the fact that our President withdrew our American Troops from Iraq this month….December 2011. Iraq’s old name? Babylon. Could our President be moving according the Word of God more than people think that he is?
God tell us back in verse 5 of Chapter 2 that He will be our Firewall. What is a Firewall on your computer? It is a program that does not allow attackers and hackers to enter your computer and bring troubles to you. “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” Awesome isn’t it? That’s how much He loves you.
In Chapter 3 we see that the restoration of the church is promised through Jesus Christ the Branch. That’s why you see 9 candles on a Hanukkah Menorah. 8 days of the oil miracle where a little oil miraculously lasted 8 days for Israel and Jesus is the middle candle (Branch) of the Menorah in which all the other candles (branches) are lit. (Chapter 6:12 and John 15:1, 5.)
To end, what is your February 24th revelation? Has God been speaking to you about anything?
