You’ve heard it. It’s hard to believe and your flesh wants to fight it but yes, Jesus told us to forgive, even our enemies and those who do us harm. Think about it. If we exercise forgiveness all around the world, what victory will the enemy of our souls have? Answer: none.
When someone does you wrong, forgive them because it wasn’t exactly them who offended you but the spirit of segregation and separation that did it. If you forgive them, God will forgive you of yours. Tit for tat. Not only that, who said that your sins were any better? What gives you the right to think that you have never done anything to offend anyone? Now is it making sense? All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. No one is perfect. Jesus said as He was dying on the cross, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” If we did know what we were doing, we wouldn’t need Jesus.
The enemy comes in to steal, kill and destroy. If someone is out to destroy you or hurt your name somehow, it’s the devil in them trying to assassinate your character. he does not want you to be confident in anything. Don’t wake up and tell people that you feel great that day…..someone will come along and throw a brick in your path just so that you can come down a couple of pegs. The devil is busy. Remember this, those who really love you will not publicly hurt you. Matthew 18:15 says that if we have an ought with our brother/sister, we should confront him/her alone first. Then if we need help and it looks as though there is going to be a non-effective discussion, take two or three witnesses. If that doesn’t work, we are to then, take it to the church/family. If someone approaches you in any other manner, they weren’t for your good in the beginning and were probably waiting for you to make a mistake so that they could confront you or intimidate you. How would you approach them? Then, why should they do it any differently than you would?
If we all forgive one another all around the world, there would be nothing to stop God’s love from spreading and healing the entire world. Jesus said He’s not coming back until everyone has heard of Him. Let’s even talk to our enemies or frien-amies about love and forgiveness. Forgiveness is power.
Good stuff!
